ESSAY 2: PROBLEM-SOLUTION (PROPOSAL)
INFORMAL OUTLINE: An informal outline is the writer's plan for the essay. It should reflect the organizational scheme of the entire essay, but it is not in any particular formal style. This means, the writer can use numbering, bulleting, indentation, full sentences, phrases (or any combination). The thesis of the essay does need to be typed at the top, though, and the informal (or "working") outline does need to show the organizational development of the writer's essay. I have posted two student-written examples below. Note that each is just showing part of the essay--but you can see the organizational plan of each essay and how the outline would progress.
